route description:
- the path first descends from the lodges to the lake
- walk along the northern shore to start of the walk up to Laurebina La
part of the route along the Gosainkund Lake
- the climb starts with stone steps to a water spring (praying flags)
- further the path continues steeper upwards and on a small plateau at app. 4530m turns to the right
- follows a traverse below a minor peak (4680m)
- on your left side will appear Suryakund Lake
route to the Laurebina La
- last part before the actual saddle, the path leads thru a ragged plateau at height 4600 - 4650m
- Laurebina La Pass is marked with a stone stupa and a lot of praying flags
- it's also the highest point of the Langtang Trek
first part of descend from Laurebina La to the High Camp
path between High Camp and Phedi
- follows a descent thru a relatively wide valley to a place called High Camp (4240m, 3/2012 lodge closed)
- further down to Phedi it's significantly much steeper and rocky path
the descend from Laurebina La to Phedi
- the "descent" from Phedi to Gopte is a demanding traverse of several steep side ridges
- it's not a descent of 280m, as one might think when looking into a map
- right after Phedi is a very steep descent to a footbridge accross a stream
- from there a neverending series of ups and downs begins
- no point in describing it further (path leads partially in wood, but mostly stays above the tree line)
- after a longer ascent (significantly longer than all the previous ones) to one of the ridges, finally the descent to lodges at Gopte begins (3430m)
final traverse to Tharepati
- from Gopte path leads thru forrest and after few ups and downs one reaches a single lodge (3250m) - overnight possible
- from here to Tharepati it's still around 1 hour of walk
- the trail leads in few ups and downs thru wood and follows a longer ascent up to the tree line
- last part is a gently ascending traverse above the vegetation line to the lodges at Tharepati
trail between Ghopte and Tharepati
