Langtang Himal - Laurebina La & Gosainkund Lake Trekking
from Tharepati via Kutumsang to Chisopani
This route is normally done in 1,5 to 2 days! Trekkers typically overnight in Kutumsang or Gul Bhanjyang and on second day continue to Chisapani. From Tharepati to Chisopani without overnight along the route, is a very very long day!

•
difficulty: extremely long (!), rough terrain, steep descents
•
route description:
- from Tharepati the path descends gently thru forrest on the western slope of a ridge
- later the trail moves almost directly onto the ridge
- approx. in 3/4 of the way to Magingoth one reaches a larger meadow with ruins of shepherd's huts
- last chance to see Gangchempo and Dorje Lakpa peaks
- the descent gets steeper and leads thru forrest to Magin Goth (3265m, 1 lodge)
- from there begins a short walk-up to pass Kyuola Bhanjyang (3335m, 1 lodge)
- at the pass begins long descent in rhododendron forrest to village Kutumsang (2470m)
- along the route 2 lodges, shortly before the village is a nice stupa
- in Kutumsang the descent turns into an ascent - traverse of Jogin Danda ridge up to pass at 2570m
- follows a steep descent to village Gul Bhanjyang (2140m); two relatively nice lodges
descent from Jogin Danda to Gul Bhanjyang
- from Gul Bhanjyangu one has to climb over another ridge - Thotong Danda (2500m)
- the climb leads mostly thru wood on a dustly, wide road for trucks and jeeps (however practically zero traffic)
- the path from the ridge to Chipling village is very steep and rocky
- Chipling is a "weird" village (guesthouses were anything, but not appealing, villagers not very friendly)
- when reaching last lodge at the end of the village, don't walk the main path straight ahead, but turn sharp right and descend the steep and narrow trail
- further the path rather traverses than descends and in 30 minutes one gets to a small village (one nice lodge)
- from there continues a wide trail to Pati Bhanjyang
trail from Pati Bhanjyang to Chisapani
- Pati Bhanjyang (1760m) is a dirty village between Chipling and Chisopani
- lodges are very simple, but 10 minutes up the hill towards Chisopani stands a significantly cleaner and better one
- it's still one to one and half hours of walking from here to Chisopani
- follow the wide track
- i can recommend lodge Manakamana (the very first one, when coming from Pati Bhanjyang)
