•
equipment needed:
- standard mountaineering / trekking gear
- in spring season (March, April) larger part of the climb can be under snow
- for the steep section, crampons might be needed (depending snow conditions)
•
difficulty: most of the climb off the trekking route, rocky terrain; snow in spring
•
route description:
- from the Gosainkund lodges one descends to the lake first
- walks along it's northern shore and then up to a water spring (praying flags) above the lake
- shortly above the spring one has to leave the trekking route to the left
- walk up to the Cholangpati Danda ridge is not a part of the Laurebina La Trek
- over a small rocky plateau get below a steep slope, which leads to a flat col
- it's better to beat the slope in it's leftmost part – less rocky, partially usable path
approximate ascend/descend route
- in March (beginning April) this section can be covered under frozen snow
- crampons might be needed (slope over 40 deg. steep)
- to the left above the little pass is a significant rock, which has to be bypassed from the right to it's "top"
- from there one can already see the whole remaining climb over a rock/grass ridge to the summit
route from the col to the summit
- if the weather is good Manaslu, Himal Chuli, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, Naya Kanga, Surya Peak peaks can be seen from the summit
